Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) technique is often used by physical therapists to directly treat fascia, tendons, and muscles. A specialized instrument is used in this technique to treat the target tissue to eliminate pain, improve range of motion, and restore normal function. A good candidate for IASTM is someone with excessive scar tissue, tendinitis, tendinopathy, or a muscle strain.
